Meet up with one of our Wranglers and get a behind the scenes peek into the pasture! This approximately 30-minute activity happens in season on Friday evenings at 7:30 pm. One of the wranglers will take you behind the fence line and into the pastures for an up close and personal interaction with our wonderful herd of horses. You will get a chance to meet and mingle with the horses while learning a bit about them and their individual personalities.

You will learn a bit about the Ranch and the business and see how the horses truly are the heart of our operation! With the Wrangler’s help you will also learn how to safely approach the horses. There will be plenty of time for petting and pictures-this is a great photo opportunity!

Closed toe shoes are a must to participate. Please do not bring treats of any sort. In fact, you should have nothing with you other than your camera. This is a great opportunity for individuals or the whole family! There are no age restrictions for this activity, but all participants must be active listeners and able to follow the Wrangler’s guidance and instructions at all times. Younger tots who cannot or do not follow instruction will need to be held by a parent or asked to step back out of the pasture for the safety of all. Children under six (6) years old must be accompanied by a parent. For those six (6) and older a parent does not have to be present, but certainly can be.

The cost to participate is $6 per person or $20 per household family. Participants must be signed up and paid for by 3:00 pm the day of program at the latest and this activity will operate on a first come, first served basis. This activity is geared toward our overnight guests and is only open to the public once we have met our minimum number of participants and when open spots still remain.  We will need at least 4 participants to offer the program.

As an added bonus, for anyone who participates in the Meet the Herd Program on Friday evening they will be given the opportunity to go a step farther and participate in a private lesson on Saturday morning for a discounted rate of $35 per person (no additional discounts for multiple students.) This may be a private lesson or a small group lesson, with other participants from the Meet the Herd program. Lesson block will be offered from 9:00 am to 10:00 am and please keep in mind that lessons are offered by registration only and based on instructor availability. Students must be at least 6 years old to participate. Lesson students must have closed toe shoes and long pants to participate. We will provide the helmets.

The lesson will consist of horsemanship and a very basic western riding lesson. Students will learn how to groom and tack their horses and will then mount and learn the basics of how to make their horse move forward, turn, and stop all at the walk.

This program is a great way to experience horses during your stay! We are thrilled to be able to share the joy of horses with you.

We do recommend booking this activity at time of reservation. To do so please ask for LeeAnn at ext. 101 after making your lodging or camping reservation.
