Welcome to the Michigan TU Fly Fishing School
The Michigan Trout Unlimited Fly Fishing School is indeed one of the country’s finest. The school has been in existence for 46 years. The school seeks to improve the skill of fly fishers from beginner to expert. The 3-day school is held once a year in early June, on the Boardman River approximately 12 miles from Traverse City, Michigan.
The Michigan Trout Unlimited Fly fishing school started in 1971 as a service to members of Trout Unlimited with the first 3 years at the Higgins Lake Conservation Building. It grew to be an excellent means to introduce people to the sports and to Trout Unlimited. And, while continuing in that effort, now serves to improve the skills of fly fishers at all levels. No one offers a better school at a better price anywhere.
The instructors are members of Trout Unlimited. They are all experience anglers and expert fly casters who go through rigorous training and testing before joining the school’s staff. Some are professional guides and many are Federation of Fly Fishers certified casting instructors.
Because the instructors volunteer their time, you’re assured of help from people who want to share their knowledge and love of the sport. Profits from the school go to help Michigan Trout Unlimited’s efforts to preserve cold water fisheries for future generations. So you’re getting top notch instruction and helping the resource.
